New Crematorium, Crathes

Works comprised the construction of a new crematorium, which included a specialised cremator and a chapel to accommodate 100 people, togehter with a Garden of Remembrance, car parking and landscaping. The building form of the crematorium has been inspired by its woodland setting, expressed in a modern contemporary timber clad building. The organic shape of the building is a key element of the design and the use of an aluminium standing seam roof and natural timber vertical cladding, enable the curves and fluidity of the building to be maintained and uncompromised.

The build comprised concrete foundations; Glulam and structural steel frame; combination of timber and stone external walling; insulated metal clad; Kalzip Roofing; aluminium window; render; services installations; finishes; decoration; external drainage, services and car parking.

The building has been designed to meet carbon reduction standard of 30% improvement on the 2007 Building Standards.
